From impressionism’s opening moments to cutting-edge contemporary art, the 20th Century Evening Sale at Christie’s tracks the major movements of the modern art canon.

Tonight’s auction will be led by Cezanne’s Nature morte avec pot au lait, melon et sucrier, the finest watercolour by the artist to come to auction in the last 30 years, the sale features works that reflect the experimentation of this momentous era and shaped art as we know it today. Conducted live, the hybrid-style auction will be live-streamed from Christie’s Rockefeller Center saleroom tonight, October 6.

Stan even has a microsite at Christie’s. It’s really quite good and worth a visit.

The pre-sale conversation begins at 6:30 PM; the auction begins at 7. This is my kind of reality TV. UPDATE: Here’s the recording of the auction—the action begins at 14:20.
