Our family was glued to our black and white Admiral TV from Friday, November 22nd through Monday, November 25th, 1963.
Here’s a 6+ hour videotape—introduced by NBC News journalist Edwin Newman—of what we saw—in real-time—on that terrible Friday afternoon when President John F. Kennedy was shot: https://youtu.be/eB9am3HGQs0
My 13th birthday was three days later, the day President Kennedy was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. As a family, we thought we’d shed all the tears we could possibly shed. And then the TV cameras caught the moment when John Jr. saluted his father’s casket passing by.

Those were strange, unsettling days. And I wonder if the truth ever will emerge. What was Jack Ruby all about, for instance?
I wonder the same thing. And I doubt that I’ll learn the truth during my lifetime. The whole event remains littered with enigmas, contradictions, hearsay, and the unexplained deaths of so many bystanders and seemingly tangental individuals.
