Jacob and I have made a donation to BARCS in Baltimore in honor of Betty White, who was a friend to countless animals throughout her legendary life.

Matt Bershadker, president of the nonprofit ASPCA, expressed his sadness over her death saying, “Betty White demonstrated a lifelong commitment to helping animals in need, including dedicated support for local shelters and animal welfare endeavors, fiercely promoting and protecting animal interests in her entertainment projects and personally adopting many rescued animals.”

Jacob and I have always adopted kittens from local shelters and we seek out bonded pairs like our current kids, Baxter and Louie.

Mr. Baxter
And, our boy, Louie.

The Betty White Challenge is exploding—deservedly so—in popularity. It encourages everyone to donate $5 to any local or national animal shelter, rescue, or agency in Betty White’s name through Jan. 17, her birthday. You can follow this movement in real time on Twitter with the #BettyWhiteChallenge hashtag.

Join us in making a donation if you can, or simply share this post help to spread the word.

You can always tell about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal.
Animals don’t lie. Animals don’t criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.
