You’ve felt it, I’ve felt it, we’ve all felt it—the oppressive heat and humidity lately.

I came up with a plan, I’m trying it, and it’s working for me. I hope it works for you, too. Feel free to share with all of your over-heated friends and neighbors.

Oh, and for the hydrating part—Frozen Salty Dogs (made by the pitcher) take care of that. Containing lots of ice, the drink’s cooling effect comes on nearly instantly. And who could dispute the healthy properties of citrus? Here’s my recipe for a single drink:

  •  1 ½ ounces gin (or vodka, if you must)
  •  3 ounces grapefruit juice
  •  a splash of grenadine
  •  1 ½- 2 cups ice

Blend all ingredients until the texture resembles that of a slushie or frozen margarita. Pour into a salt-rimmed glass, sip, read a good book, and repeat. Cheers!
